Data Center Overview

Virpus Networks houses its customers in a world class data center located in Downtown Kansas City, within Oak Tower.

Power Redundancy.

Oak Tower has an incredible reputation in power reliability. In fact, due to its location, the Kansas City Power and Light company has the building situated on three power grids.The data center itself has power coming from Kansas City Power and Light as primary, with all nodes feeding off the UPS (uninterruptible supplies system), which can handle its current load for 15 minutes to allow time for the generator to start. There is an on-site stand-by generator which has fuel capacity at any time to run the data center for 48 hours without refueling.

Security.

Security is something that you will notice the moment you enter the floor. In every hall and in every room of the facility, you will notice security cameras and a biometric hand scanner on each and every door (except for the bathroom).

Cooling.

Each room is maintained at 70 degrees at all times, to ensure an optimal environment for our servers and our customers servers. The building is also powered by chilled water cooling for efficient eco-friendly cooling of the facility.

Network Overview

Virpus Networks utilizes Level (3), Cogent and Hurricane Electric to provide our customers with exceptional network performance with low latency, less hops and a large capacity of connectivity to ensure our growth. Virpus Networks has diverse entry points from each provider, and has an overall capacity of over 500 Gb/s.

Cogent is a multinational Tier 1 Internet service provider consistently ranked as one of the top five networks in the world. Our primary service offering consists of Internet access and data transport, offered over our award-winning fiber optic, IP data-only network, along with colocation in any of our 36 Internet Data Centers. We service two customer segments: “Corporate” (small businesses to Fortune 100 companies) and “NetCentric” (access providers and content providers whose businesses rely primarily on Internet access).

The Level 3 Network was designed to maximize coverage, performance, flexibility and scalability. We offer more long-haul and metro route options than other providers. In addition to our intercity route miles, we give customers access to over 26,000 metropolitan route miles.

Level 3's high-capacity, nationwide backbone was recently overbuilt with new DWDM, IP and private-line switching layers.Level 3 technology deployments have enabled new, market-leading services like 10 GigE LAN PHY and 40 Gbps Wavelength services.

Hurricane Electric is a leading Internet Backbone and Colocation Provider specializing in Colocation, Dedicated Servers, Direct Internet Connections, and Web Hosting. Hurricane Electric operates its own global network, running multiple OC192s, OC48s, and Gigabit Ethernet.
